"Super"-Hero and the use of Color!

Welcome back bloggers! In today's post, we'll be discussing a unique aspect of film, as well as how it's used in "Super"-Hero: color!

One of the most overlooked elements in media, coloring can actually evoke certain moods in viewers whenever they watch something. These moods can range from red colors evoking anger or passion all the way to blue colors evoking sadness and peace. If you notice a predominant hue or filter in scenes, such as the yellow filter on Mexico scenes in Breaking Bad or the green hue at the beginning of Whiplash, those were most likely intentional designs! They aren't there just to make the film look pretty, as those scenes are colored that way for a specific reason, whether it be to show a contrast between the past and present or to paint an image of a character. In our opening, "Super"-Hero, coloring was something we barely put any thought into during brainstorming. We poured all of our focus onto creating a coherent storyline that could be shot accurately on camera, as well as getting props and costumes ready for filming since we faced delays. However, now that we have coherent ideas for how the film should progress, there are a couple ways we could capitalize on coloring for our final product!

For starters, one of the most obvious ways we can implement color is in the costumes of the actual characters! In Power-Man's costume, which actually underwent a few changes, his costume is predominantly red and white, with some black highlights such as the shoes and chest logo. When red, a color of passion, is combined with white, a color with angelic qualities, an effect that I can best describe as "fearful awe" is then created when Power-Man appears. The robbers would be star-struck by his initial appearance which is exactly the kind of feel we were going for. Speaking of which, the robbers are dressed in all black so that they invoke feelings of evil, of course. As for the rest of the film, we have no plan to use filters as the natural lighting and color of the house work in our favor. The interior of the house itself is nearly pure white, and since white is a color associated with cleanliness and angelic quantities, this makes the house look more luxurious than it would had it been a different color like blue.
