The editing process for "Super"-Hero!

Welcome back bloggers! In today's blog, I will be going over some of the beginning editing we have done for our opener, "Super"-Hero!

Our holy grail being created!

Just you wait...

Our expert at work!

Although we haven't finished filming all scenes yet, we thought it'd be best to start editing what we already have so that we reinforce our ideas of how we want the film to progress. As stated in my blog about group members, our friend Pablo Mendez will be the primary editor of this project. His job is to work his magic on our project once all scenes have been filmed, and turn our project from a rough mess into a polished beauty! The software Pablo decided to use for editing was Adobe Premiere Pro, since he's got not only experience with it, but also an INDUSTRY CERTIFICATION for it! He also has certifications for Adobe Photoshop and is working towards one for Adobe After Effects. Needless to say, our friend Pablo here is a true work of art! So, with all of these credentials going for him, as well as years of editing experience including multiple projects, it sounds like Pablo would have had a fairly easy time putting this thing together, right?

Well, so far at least. Since we've only got just under the first half of the film shot on camera, editing has been fairly minimal, partly because it's hard to envision how you want a film to look with only have of it actually shot! So far, he's added in Fade In and Fade Out transitions at the beginning and end of the introductory scene (aka the robbers breaking in) in order to kick off the plot without anything being abrupt. He has also added the first of many onomatopoeia visual effects, specifically the one where the homeowner gets BONKED on the head! Unfortunately, due to unexpected occurrences on our last filming day, we were unable to shoot much and as such editing ranges for Pablo as of now are fairly limited. However, we've got a new filming session coming within a week and THIS time we WILL finish shooting all remaining scenes left. Although Pablo hasn't had a whole lot of trouble editing for the most part, one issue that we discovered fairly early was that editing during class would be near impossible, since school computers run older versions of Adobe applications. This means that Pablo would have to do all editing at home, which could cause exhausting time restraints. That is why it is our utmost priority to finish filming as quickly as we can, so that Pablo's window for editing is as long as possible while still giving us flexibility for last-minute reshoots!
